(IDEC) was founded in 1963 and is dedicated to the advancement of education and research in interior design. IDEC fosters exchange of information, improvement of educational standards, and development of the body of knowledge relative to the quality of life and human performance in the interior environment. Students will interview another student for their design and color preferences using a sample of wall paper selected by the interviewed student as the basis for the project. The students will then prepare a design project to meet the specifications of this interview. Students will select appropriate materials, plan and construct a "room in a box", estimate the cost of their design project, and present this to the "customer" (student interviewed) for consumer satisfaction. This is an opening lesson on color theory covering terms: primary, secondary, tertiary, intensity, hue, tint and shade. The lesson will be carried out through lecture, use of the color wheel, examples of color terms in interior design and fashion magazines. Students will then be given the supplies necessary to create a color wheel. The lesson will be concluded with students comparing and contrasting their color wheel to another student's using the design terms learned in the day's lesson. © Copyright: Permission was granted by students to place lesson on the [Techn'teach] website.
